About us
We are Amanda and Nick Taylor and we live on a four acre small holding in a tiny hamlet close to the Mendip village of Stoke St Michael.
We are animal mad… we have four Wirehaired Vizsla girls, a Wirehaired Vizsla stud dog plus three small dogs (two completely blind and almost deaf) plus three cats who are used to having visiting dogs here.
Outside we have two friendly badger-faced sheep Nobby & Nigel, an assortment of ducks, a large pond full of huge Koi Carp plus Tilly the tortoise.
We’ve been breeding our beautiful Wirehaired Vizslas since 1999 and we are now on our sixth generation, so we have many years experience with dogs of all ages.
People say we have an affinity with, and a real understanding of animals. We have taken in many waifs and strays - from ducks to ponies as rescues from many sources including our local animal shelter - and we always put our animals first. We have helped clients with rehoming their treasured pets.
We are a relaxed, laid back and extremely sociable pair and this is reflected in the relationships we build with the animals around us and their owners.
Amanda has a real interest in training and takes regular lessons in pet gun dog training. She has also completed a pet first aid course and tried other activities such as agility and scent tracking with our dogs.
We love meeting new dogs and their owners to find out as much as we can about their quirky ways so we are able to offer the best possible stay for them, and we pride ourselves on the level of care we offer.
